In general, every Upper School student at McLean should be involved in at least one co-curricular activity during the year. Such participation is part of the total educational process and, in addition, contributes to the college admissions process. Activities may meet before, during, or after the academic day in order to satisfy the schedules of the majority of student participants and faculty sponsors. Prioritizing is important as excessive co-curricular participation on top of academic demands may create stress. Among the activities in which students may participate are the following:
Athletics: (PE requirement may be waived if a student is on a McLean team or participates in a recognized athletic activity outside of school)
Drama Productions
Student Government Association
Honor Committee
Discipline Committee
Clubs: (students are encouraged to create their own clubs with a faculty sponsor)
