I hope you had a good week. Just a reminder that first quarter Interims were due to me by the faculty on Thursday. I hope to have them in the mail on Monday. These first quarter Interim Reports are required for all students new to Upper School and for students in academic difficulty, receiving a C- or below in a course. Interim Reports for other students are optional; therefore, not all families will receive interims in the mail.

If you have any questions, please contact me or your child’s advisor. Students in academic difficulty are placed in a mandatory tutorial for that subject area. Mandatory tutorials will begin on Monday.

Dear Upper School Families,
I hope you are having a nice week. On Thursday the students had a club/committee fair to learn more about the clubs and activities we offer. Students have also been encouraged to create a new club if they are able to get a faculty sponsor. This is how the Anime Club has come to being in the last week. The students have the following clubs/committees to choose from:

Wellness
Anime
Activities
Environmental Awareness
Film
Music
Ultimate Frisbee

In an effort to help build and foster community involvement, all students in Upper School must become a member of at least one club/committee.

I look forward to seeing you all at Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, September 17. After the Back-to-School Night program, there will be a meeting for those parents of juniors and seniors interested in going to Spain during spring break. This meeting will occur at 8:30 pm in Ms. Adum’s classroom, room 116.

Please note that the Upper School pizza lunch begins on Monday.

I hope that you all had a relaxing summer break. We are off to a busy start in Upper School. It’s wonderful to have the hustle and bustle back in our halls. The students and faculty have begun to settle in.

If your child will be absent or if he or she will need to leave school early, please contact Ms. Smith in the Upper School office at 240.395.0689 or ssmith@mcleanschool.org.

Students are not permitted to use their cell phones during the academic day. If you have a message that needs to be forwarded to your child, please contact your child’s advisor via e-mail or please contact Ms. Smith.

If you need to contact a teacher, please e-mail that teacher. Teacher phones do not ring in the classrooms.
