McLean School of Maryland

Community Service

McLean School is active in the community through all-school, divisional, and individual efforts. Students gain a sense of awareness and empowerment by participating in fund-raising and learning about immediate world-wide response to a natural disaster. Our families respond heartily to every request for those in need, whether it be for blankets and warm clothing, toiletries, toys, baby supplies, or food for our area’s homeless and hungry. Organizations that benefit from our community service range from local charities to international emergency needs.

One annual school-wide event is a holiday activity in which students make holiday bags of toys and hygiene products for children living in shelters.

In recent years, McLean has raised money to support many organizations including the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, The Children’s Inn at NIH, Montgomery County Animal Shelter, Manna Food Center of Montgomery County, and March of Dimes.

In addition students and faculty participated in mini-walks for the homeless, coat and blanket drives for local needy, a blood drive (for those over the age of 16), made sandwiches for the homeless, March of Dimes Walk , and raised money through a variety of activities for Grenada and South Florida hurricane victims as well as staged a massive relief effort for Tsunami Relief.
