The sixth grade science classes have set up the growing tubs for a service project designed to help restore underwater grasses in the Chesapeake Bay. Submerged aquatic vegetation provides numerous benefits to the Bay ecosystem, but has been dwindling in recent years. This project is sponsored by the Department of Natural resources in partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Trust. We will grow grasses in our classrooms and then in the spring take the seedlings out and plant them in a tributary of the Bay. We will be learning about the vital role these grasses play. Stop by and see our project if you are in the building!
