Marquise ‘08 attended a commemorative event at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Marquise, who is from Arkansas, attended the event with her father, who is an historian. One of the sessions she attended focused on the historic “Little Rock Nine” who integrated Central High in 1957. Having studied the events in her high school U.S. history class, Marquise and her family thoughtfully created beautifully framed documents for history teachers Richard Fisher and John Neal. These amazing gifts included signed notes from Elizabeth Eckford and Thelma Mothershed Wair, two of the original “Little Rock Nine.”

The documents will be proudly displayed and used in lessons to help tell the important stories of sacrifice and triumph during the Civil Rights era.
