Follow the Driver’s instructions
School buses are just like classrooms; the adult is in charge. Follow the directions of the driver, the same way you listen to the teacher. Cooperation with the bus driver is mandatory to enable the driver to provide a safe ride for all students.
Remain Seated, Facing Forward
You must stay seated in your assigned seats at all times until the driver tells you it is safe to exit. You must keep all parts of your body inside the bus. You may not put your feet on the seat.
Keep Hands, Feet and Objects to Yourself
You may not push, wrestle or annoy other students on the bus or at the bus stop. You may not throw anything, at any time on or out of the bus.
Be Polite and Talk Quietly
You may talk quietly only to the riders in the same seat with you. You may not use inappropriate language or gestures. Do not yell out the windows or distract passing cars or buses.
Keep the Bus Clean
No eating, drinking, chewing gum, or littering. Remove all property such as backpacks, coats, and papers when departing the bus. McLean School is not responsible for lost articles.
Be a Safe Rider
Keep the bus aisle clear; this includes student feet, book bags, sport items, and anything that may hinder the quick evacuation of the bus. Large objects* that cannot be held on a student lap such as some musical instruments, class projects, large sports gear, etc., should not be transported on the bus.
Only ride your assigned bus unless you parents have notified the school of a change.
Parents should arrive at the site at least five minutes before the scheduled pick-up and drop-off times to ensure quick and supervised boarding and disembarking.
Report any safety issues or incidents to the bus driver and the Front Desk (301.299.8277).
Please remember; riding the school bus is a privilege, don’t lose it!
*Parents should transport any large objects that cannot be held on a student lap to school between 9:00am and 2:30pm or after 3:30pm.
